Transformation Initiative Explained
14 Transformation chambers have been
prepared
and will house previously disadvantaged (PDI), newly
admitted pupils of the bar commencing their practices.
Chambers will be fully fitted with all the necessary
infrastructure and furnishing to enable them to practice.
It is envisaged that each pupil will then work closely
with experienced junior and senior practitioners on
each floor developing the necessary skills and experience
and obtain supporting briefs.
This is unique in the bar with currently many PDI
advocates struggling to get the opportunity to develop
their skills.
Transformation Costs
Once-off set-up costs of R75,000
is budgeted for each floor housing 2 chambers. R35,000
for furnishing, R45,000 for their books and computer
infrastructure.
Monthly costs are estimated at R10,000 per chamber to
cover all their operating expenses including rental,
stationery, subscriptions and group fees.
